Kari Sam Wuhrer born April 28, 1968 is an American actor and singer. She began her acting career when she was in her teens. Her most well-known role is for her character Maggie Beckett on the TV show Sliders and also in the role of the character of Sheriff Samantha Parker, in the horror-comedy movie Eight Legged Freaks. Wuhrer was raised in Brookfield Connecticut as the daughter of Karin Noble, who worked as a cashier, as well as German American Andrew Wuhrer. The youngest of her three siblings. As a teenager, she was a singer who was a regular in the clubs, escaping from her family for the sake of performing. Following her studies in acting at the Wooster School, at the age of 13, she pursued a degree in drama at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in Marymount Manhattan College and Columbia University.
