Anita Ekberg
Anita Ekberg was a Swedish actress who was featured in numerous European as well as American films. The most well-known role she played was in the dramatic comedy film "La Dolce Vita". It was a critical as well as commercial success as well receiving an Oscar at Cannes Film Festival 1960. The film was made in Skane, Sweden, she worked as a fashion model prior to her acting profession. She won her first Miss Sweden competition. In the US her first appearance was in films playing minor roles. The first time she had a role that was acknowledged by the director was in the movie 'Abbott and Costello Go to Mars", in which she was a Venusian guard. In the same year she won her Golden Globe in the category of "Most Outstanding Newcomer" in recognition of her performance in the film "Blood Alley. The actress was also featured in numerous other films throughout her career. This includes the American-Italian War drama "War and Peace,' and the Western movie "Valerie" as well as the British Adventure crime film 'The Man Within and"The Dam On The Yellow River," the French and Italian dramatic The Dam on the Yellow River. In the year 2015, she died aged 85.
